Specialized treatment and support for individuals managing Parkinson’s—focusing on mobility, independence, and quality of life.

What Is Parkinson’s Disease?
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects movement, balance, and coordination. It develops gradually and is caused by a loss of dopamine-producing brain cells. Symptoms can include tremors, stiffness, slowness of movement, and postural instability. While there’s currently no cure, proper treatment can dramatically improve daily functioning and long-term outcomes.
How We Treat Parkinson’s at NPBTC
At NPBTC, our approach to Parkinson’s care is comprehensive and collaborative. Patients receive expert evaluation and medication management under the direction of Dr. Sonya Knight, a board-certified neurologist and psychiatrist. In addition, our in-house physical therapy program offers LSVT BIG—a research-based treatment designed specifically to improve movement, balance, and gait in individuals with Parkinson’s.
By combining neurologic insight, physical rehabilitation, and ongoing support, we help patients maintain independence and confidence as they manage this condition.
