Dr. Sonya Knight, DO, FAAN

Triple Board-Certified in Neurology, Epilepsy, and Psychiatry

Dr. Sonya Knight is a founding physician of Neurology, Psychiatry and Balance Therapy Center and brings a rare combination of expertise across neurology, epilepsy, and psychiatry. Her integrated background supports the practice’s care model for patients whose symptoms may affect the brain, mood, behavior, movement, and daily function at the same time.

About

Dr. Sonya Knight, DO, FAAN is a neurologist, epileptologist, and psychiatrist who founded Neurology, Psychiatry and Balance Therapy Center to bring truly integrated brain and mental health care to patients in Blue Bell and the surrounding communities. She completed her medical degree at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by a neurology residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, a psychiatry residency at the University of Maryland, and a neurophysiology fellowship with specialized training in epilepsy at Temple University Hospital.

Her clinical interests include epilepsy and seizure disorders, dizziness and balance problems, depression, OCD, and other conditions that sit at the intersection of neurology and psychiatry. Patients often appreciate that she takes time to listen, explains complex conditions in clear language, and offers treatment plans that may include medication, psychotherapy, Deep TMS, and coordinated care with the broader NPBTC team.

When she is not seeing patients, Dr. Knight enjoys movies, music, reading, and cooking, and she values sharing good food and conversation with family and friends.

Dr. Knight’s Care Approach

Dr. Knight’s care approach centers on understanding the full picture of each patient’s symptoms, history, and daily life before recommending a treatment plan. Because she is triple board certified in neurology, epilepsy, and psychiatry, she looks at both brain and behavioral factors, and often considers how seizures, dizziness, mood, thinking, and stress may influence one another.

She spends time listening to patients’ stories, explains diagnoses in clear language, and discusses options such as medication, psychotherapy, Deep TMS, and lifestyle changes so patients can make informed decisions about their care. Her goal is to create practical, individualized plans that fit patients’ real-world needs and to coordinate with other providers at NPBTC when additional neurological, psychiatric, or rehabilitation support is helpful.
